Count
The count for the Barnet local elections took place overnight at Saracens’ StoneX stadium, finishing this morning at 7.00am (Friday 6 May).
Following the overnight count, the results have been declared and the Barnet Labour group now has full control of the council.
Labour 41 seats and Conservatives 22 seats. The provisional voter turnout was 97,480 (37.9%).
More than 250 Barnet Council employees worked through the night to count the votes from 24 wards.
Barnet Council’s Chief Executive and Returning Officer for Barnet borough, John Hooton, said: “Thank you to my council colleagues for all their hard work to run a smooth local election for our residents and voters. I would like to congratulate the Barnet Labour group on their electoral win. We look forward to working with our elected Members to deliver their aspirations for the borough and continuing to make Barnet a great place to live, work and study.”
Barnet’s Leader and committee chairs will be elected at Full Council on 24 May.
