Proposals for a development project which will deliver new and improved civic and academic spaces around The Burroughs in Hendon have taken a step forward, after the full business case for the scheme was given the go-ahead.

At a meeting of full Council on 27 July, councillors voted to approve the business case for the Hendon Hub, paving the way for the development proposals to progress.
The decision means that planning applications for the scheme, which have been developed in partnership with Middlesex University, can be submitted over the coming weeks.
Residents will then have a further opportunity to provide their feedback as part of the statutory planning consultation process.
This follows on from extensive public consultation carried out earlier this year between March and June 2021 which helped shape the proposals which have been revised and updated, following feedback.
Councillor Dan Thomas, Leader of Barnet Council, said: “Approval of the full business case for the Hendon Hub proposals is an extremely important step which means planning applications for the scheme can be submitted in the near future.
“The Hendon Hub plans represent an exciting opportunity to bring much needed investment into the area and deliver improved civic and academic spaces. This would include a brand new state-of-the-art library facility on The Burroughs, along with new student and keyworker accommodation and independent homes for young adults.
“The proposals will also include an improved public realm and green spaces, and community facilities that will benefit everyone who lives and works in Hendon.”
