Barnet Council is seeking residents’ views to help shape its plans for improving the life chances of children and young people living in the borough.

The consultation, which runs until 4 December, will gather people’s views and opinions on the council’s Life Chances Strategy 2020-2024.
Through improving life chances, the strategy aims to have a significant impact on tackling issues such as child poverty and inequality. It also acknowledges the substantial impact of Covid-19, and that the pandemic means a drive to improve life chances for young people is now even more important.
To help achieve these aims, the proposed plan includes a detailed range of actions based around four key priorities.
The new strategy is supported by the council’s family friendly vision which is focused on making Barnet the most family friendly borough in London and an even better place for all families to live.
Councillor David Longstaff, Chairman of the Children, Education and Safeguarding Committee, said: “It is vital that our children and young people have the best possible start in life. This strategy sets out how we can work to improve life chances and help our young people reach their full potential.
“Most children in Barnet have good opportunities but we want that for all our young people. I would encourage as many people as possible to take the time to look at the strategy and give us their views.”
