New traffic management measures have been proposed for dealing with drivers taking short cuts through residential areas in busy parts of the London Borough of Barnet, to make life better for residents.
News
The current proposals are for a type of road closure known as traffic filters – enforced by Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) cameras – in Booth Road and The Greenway, Colindale. The aim is to reduce non-residential vehicles passing through these roads to improve the quality of life for residents in these areas, which would also improve road safety and air quality.
Councillor Dean Cohen, Chair of the Barnet Council Environment Committee, said: “Residents have told us Burnt Oak and Colindale are areas of concern in this respect. We are proposing these traffic measures to help alleviate these problems, and we’d love to hear your feedback.”
Many of the vehicles passing through Booth Road and The Greenway have been identified by residents as those trying to avoid nearby main roads.
