The third Monday in January is thought to be the most depressing day of the year. With the festive season a distant memory, and new year’s resolutions to improve your health and wellbeing falling by the wayside, it’s hard to keep motivated.
Keeping fit is a great way to stay happy
This Blue Monday, (17 January 2022), Barnet Council is highlighting ways to help us all keep fit and beat the January Blues.
If you are only starting your fitness journey, walking is a great, gentle way to clear your head and move your body. Visit our many parks and open spaces and make use of an Active Trail or outdoor gym. Why not go on one of Barnet’s six Heritage Walks or an instructor led, Health Walk? Download our free Heritage Walks audio guide and maps and listen to interesting stories about historical and natural points of interest in Barnet.
Our Fit & Active Barnet (FAB) Hub is also a great place to give residents access to health and wellbeing tips, in addition to helping you find an activity that will help you move a little more. Whilst visiting the Hub, why not register for a free FAB card (available to Barnet residents). The FAB card provides a range of benefits and discounts to help you on your way to a fitter and healthier you. Leisure Centres, Gyms & Swimming Pools in Barnet | Better

Councillor Caroline Stock, Chair of the Health & Wellbeing Board, said: “January can be a challenging month at the best of times, but with the pandemic still affecting all our lives, many more people are facing difficulties with their physical and mental health.
“The health and wellbeing of the people of Barnet is a key priority for the council, and there are many resources and services available to help with this.
“I would encourage anyone who is struggling or just wants the opportunity to lead a fitter and healthier lifestyle, to take advantage of some of the great services Barnet offers and get the support you need.”
