The Flower Bank in Barnet used Crowdfund to help set up as a social enterprise
Barnet Council has launched a new funding round as part of its crowdfunding initiative Crowdfund Barnet - Home (spacehive.com), to support community-led ideas. The fund is on the lookout for local community projects that enhance Barnet’s high streets, neighborhoods, or parks for our residents, as well as supporting vulnerable people and bringing communities together, creating a more vibrant, resilient and connected borough.
Working in partnership with Spacehive, Crowdfund Barnet is an initiative that gives local residents who have an idea to improve their community the opportunity to gain funding via Spacehive’s crowdfunding platform. Your project could be match funded by Barnet Council up to £5,000. So far, over 2,000 backers have helped raise more than £770,000 for 27 amazing local projects across the borough.
Hear from The Flower Bank, a successful Crowdfund Barnet project, who raised funds to support their zero-waste social enterprise. The Flower Bank works with volunteers and young offenders to repurpose flowers that would otherwise go to landfill. They operate as a flower shop, selling to customers in the local community, and also donate flowers to care homes, contact centres and local community places: https://youtu.be/sRFhZgzVLto
