FOI: Fly tipping
Received: 31 August 2024
QuestionsIn your response, please can you tell me:1. What methods does the council use to confirm that fly-tipping problems have been action/completed (e.g. are photos sent back to base or is it the case that verbal confirmation is enough to trigger the emails to those who have reported a problem)?2. What data sources does the Cabinet / Senior Management / relevant stakeholders * use to assess the performance of the Service Commitment related to fly-tipping (which I believe is clearance within 5 days)?* The following stakeholders are relevant:Cllr Schneiderman, Cabinet Member for Environment & Climate ChangeCllr Conway, Cabinet Member for Community Safety and Resident Participation and Chair of the Safer Communities Partnership BoardClair Green, Executive Director of Assurance and Public ProtectionAny member of the Safer Communities Partnership Board3. What steps do management or Councillors at the Council take when it is clear that false action/completion reports have been made?4. What is the council's policy on handling Lime bike dumping (as opposed to general waste without a known original owner)?NB: a Lime bike is amongst the items. The proliferation of Lime bike dumping was Question 6 at Barnet Question Time 22 July 2024. On 26 Aug 2024. This is an ongoing problem - I walked from a bus stop on Staples Corner to Brent Cross shopping centre and came across a minimum of at least 4 dumped Lime bikes along the way. Other councils are taking action on this e.g. Derby (https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cgq27q4kk3lo.amp)and Wandsworth (who first started to seize the bikes and has apparently now banned them in favour of arranging a formal docking system with a different operator:https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c28808jjrx1o).
