Report damage to roads
You can report road damage such as issues with potholes, kerbs and bollards, accidental spillages and problems with ongoing works.
Alternatively, email us at highwayscorrespondence@barnet.gov.uk.
How to report potholes
Please report as much information as possible such as:
- location within the road
- which side of road
- single or multiple potholes.
Repairing potholes
Once a pothole has been reported, we will visit the area to assess the problem.
A decision will be made on what action will be taken based on the:
- depth of the issue which must be 40mm or more
- location
- potential danger to the public
Where we find damage we categorise its severity and then carry out the repair within:
- 48 hours for category 1 (most severe)
- 7 working days for category 2
- 28 working days for category 3 (least severe)
For an emergency, we will first make the pothole safe and then arrange a category 1 repair as above.
Not all reported road damage requires repairing.
How to report property vibration
Property vibration can be caused by a variety of reasons, which may or may not be related to the road. Vibrations can also be transmitted through the ground or air.
We can provide information on vibration monitoring, but cannot do the vibration monitoring for you.
Once a property vibration issue is reported we will visit the area.
If we find that a defect with the road is causing the issue, we will take the appropriate action to fix it.
If a road defect is not found, it is up to the property owner to take the appropriate action.
