Early Informal Discussion with Neighbours
In the interest of being a good neighbour, we advise you to approach your adjoining or adjacent neighbours to make them aware of any extensions or alterations that you might be considering before submitting a planning application.
Presenting and discussing your proposed development (home extension(s), outbuildings or other domestic development), will help your neighbours to understand your planning proposals and avoid disputes.
Leaflets or online engagement
Engaging with neighbours via leaflets and/or online engagement is optional and would not typically be expected for this type of development.
A leaflet may take the form of simple A4 handout which clearly sets out the key aspects of the proposed development. For example, a description of what is proposed and any plans or visual support that illustrates the proposal.
Online engagement may take the form of:
- email correspondence with neighbours
- sharing any PDF document
- images that you have of your proposed development
As with the leaflet method you should clearly set out the key aspects of the proposed development, providing a concise description of what is proposed.
